Handcrafted, with exquisite attention to detail, for the professional musician seeking a warm, woody tone and an elevated midrange. Throughout history Koa has been the choice wood for ukulele building, and is known to create instruments that only sound better over time. The Breedlove Masterclass Tenor uses this extremely dramatic wood for the top, back, and sides. An ebony fingerboard, peghead overlay, and bridge add to the durability and elegance. A single band of abalone surrounds the sound hole and a simple pattern of dots adorns the fingerboard. The sweet sound produced by this instrument is equaled only by its beauty and craftsmanship.

The Breedlove ukulele collection is driven by Kim Breedlove’s personal passion. His long-standing infatuation with ukuleles is born from his connection to Hawaii –
every year, he spends several weeks in the middle of the Pacific in the lush island landscapes, overlooking powerful pristine seas. Kim toiled for years over early Breedlove prototypes to engineer the perfect uke sound.

Originally, Breedlove ukes were available only by custom order, but by 2010, Kim had perfected the distinctively crafted sound in his signature model, and Breedlove released the Kim Breedlove Signature Ukulele as the first production uke. The Breedlove ukulele sound – the crystal-clear brilliance and lively “chunk” – is a result of the ultra-lightweight design, five-fan bracing, and minimal hand-applied finish. All Breedlove ukuleles are meticulously handcrafted in Bend, Oregon out of the most exquisite woods, for an experience that will whisk you away to the islands, if only in your imagination.

Koa, acacia koa, originates in the Hawaiian Islands. Koa is one of the most visually stunning tonewoods available, with golden hues and, often, dramatic figure. Limited supply of the tonewood has driven up prices in recent years, so it is rarely found in production guitars. It is characterized by a tone that is both clear and sweet. Koa has the clarity of rosewood, but with the warm, light tones of mahogany and it opens up over time, the more the instrument is played, expanding the midrange, for an even richer, sweeter tone. The colors range from brown to gold, with rich and varying grain, tending toward curl or flame figure in old-growth trees.

Breedlove players around the world can attest: With consistent, proper care, your Breedlove will give you a lifetime of service – and inspiration. New Breedlove instruments, purchased through an authorized Breedlove dealer, are warrantied to be free of defects in materials and workmanship throughout the lifetime of the original owner. In addition to materials and workmanship, Breedlove offers a two-year warranty on tuning machines and electronics packages. Cases and bags are subject to a one-year warranty covering defects in structure and hardware.
